Sprint Professional Developer Program certifications announced

Sprint Nextel announced a dozen members of the operator's fledgling Professional Developer Program have completed certification of their applications. An extension of Sprint's Application Developer Program, the Professional Developer Program provides advanced tools for members to create, test and certify mobile apps for use on Sprint devices--capabilities include access to the majority of the carrier's restricted APIs (GPS, address book and messaging), dedicated technical support and access to the certification process.

According to Sprint, CellTrak Technologies is the first PDP member to earn certification. Its CellTrak application enables home care and hospice providers to schedule their visits and locate staff as they travel from home to home via GPS technology, improving patient satisfaction, reducing errors and facilitating accurate reporting of visit data, mileage and related information. CellTrak ported their application from Nextel phones to Sprint phones to meet the needs of their growing customer base.

Sprint adds that along with the 12 companies earning Professional Developer Program certification, there are 17 other PDP member firms now testing new products to reach certification as well as another 25 companies in the process of earning membership.
