Open mobile product manufacturer OpenMoko announced the introduction of
the Neo FreeRunner, an updated edition of its open Neo 1973 handset
tailored for mass-market consumption. Based on the same open-source
principles of its predecessor, the Neo FreeRunner boasts hardware
upgrades including 2D/3D graphics and a faster 500MHz processor
enabling video and audio processing, as well as a host of related
applications developed within the open-source community--in addition,
the device will integrate WiFi access, and will feature motion sensors
that cue functions based on detected user activity. The Neo FreeRunner
will hit the market this spring in both 850MHz tri-band and a 900Mhz
tri-band incarnations.
