Nokia to stop making CDMA phones
Nokia has canceled a CDMA deal with Sanyo and announced that it will no longer produce CDMA phones. The company will continue to sell Nokia-branded phones created by other manufacturers to North American consumers. The deal likely won't have a major impact on the American CDMA market since Verizon and Sprint are both heavily committed to the standard, but it is not a good sign for CDMA's chances in Europe and in developing nations. Kai Oistamo, head of Nokia's Mobile Phones business unit, said CDMA is a declining market. Article | Analysis
