T-Mobile's 2008 device schedule leaks

T-Mobile USA's 2008 device rollout schedule includes the return of Sony Ericsson handsets to the operator's portfolio. Citing an anonymous tipster with a copy of a recent T-Mobile executive meeting agenda, The Boy Genius Report says the carrier will introduce two new Sony Ericsson handsets by Q4: The Bella, a 2 megapixel flip device with aGPS and 3G support, and the W760, a 3.2 megapixel slider with 3G and aGPS support of its own. Motorola will contribute the Z6w (reportedly a WiFi-enabled device) and the ROKR E8--the handset maker will also relaunch its W490 in a series of new color schemes. An "incredible" camera phone and a Windows Mobile 6.1-based device are rumored from HTC.

T-Mobile USA announced the imminent arrival of the T-Mobile Shadow, a handset produced and designed by HTC that T-Mobile said is the first in a planned franchise of devices marketed under the Shadow brand. According to the operator, the Shadow was designed to significantly reduce the complexity so common among feature-rich devices, with enhanced myFaves functionality enabling users to call, send email, text or IM, and share multimedia content by pushing a button from the myFaves home screen. Powered by an enhanced user-interface integrated with Windows Mobile 6, the Shadow promises a 65K 2.6-inch display--one of the largest screens yet to grace a T-Mobile phone--along with a 2-megapixel camera with video capture, WiFi and EDGE connectivity for Internet access and voice-activated calling.

Nokia N95: Looks great but...

The Nokia N95 is truly an impressive device. The feature list (WiFi, GPS, plenty of memory and a nice camera to name a few) pretty much has it all and the phone debuted to rave reviews, despite one glaring problem: the battery life. To quote Gizmodo, "No matter what anyone says, the battery life on the N95 isn't good." MobHappy has a nice summary of the problem titled, "how to shoot your world-beating mobile phone in the foot."

Nokia N95 coming to the U.S.

The FCC has approved the Nokia N95 for sale in the U.S. The phone will be available direct and unlocked from NokiaUSA.com, but the real question is if any U.S. carriers will pick it up. My guess is Cingular will eventually carry the device, but we'll have to wait and see. Recall the N95 is a high-end S60 smartphone with a 5-megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi and 160mb of built-in memory. HTC Shift: Vista in your pocket

The HTC Shift is more UMPC than anything else, though HTC was careful not to call it a "UMPC" specifically. The mini-laptop has a QWERTY keyboard, a 7-inch screen and a 30gb hard drive. The Shift runs Windows Vista and, of course, features WiFi connectivity in addition to tri-band UMTS/HSDPA and quad-band GSM/EDGE. Pricing is not yet available, but the device is expected to hit shelves in the U.S. and Europe in Q3. I suggest using a BlueTooth headset rather than trying to hold this thing to your ear.

Rumor: Blackberry 8300 Daytona--with WiFi

Engadget has pictures of what is apparently an unannounced RIM Blackberry codenamed "Daytona." The phone has a 2-megapixel camera, GPS and, most impressively, WiFi connectivity. The phone has markings that indicate the model number is 8300, but as with all unannounced devices, it's tough to hammer down exact specs. Blog

The Asus Aura, a concept phone designed by Hungarian firm EGY Studio, features a 3.9" touchscreen, UMTS/HSDPA/WiFi connectivity and a slide-out keyboard in a slim package. It looks great and the specs put the iPhone to shame; too bad it only exists on paper.
